Daughter of the Moon Goddess

I have to say, at first I was dissapointed how naive and childish the story/perspective of the MC was written. But then, I was drawn in by the story nonetheless. Emotions and surroundings are truly beautifully described. It really spoke to my inner child. Yes, I do think the plot contains little realism but mind you it is a fantasy book. If you need an enthralling escape from reality and heal your inner child, then this is a book I would recommend.

Xingyin hat kaum Hindernisse, die ihr Probleme bereiten. Obwohl einige Episoden lebensgefährlich sind, kommt keine Spannung auf, weil die Protagonistin sowohl ihre Plotrüstung trägt, wie auch das Zentrum der Welt für den gesamten Nebencasts ist. Entweder wird sie von den Guten bewundert, oder grundlos gehasst von den Bösen. Natürlich verlieben sich auch die beiden schönsten und talentiertesten Männer an Hof sich in sie, so dass sie sich nicht entscheiden kann. Dennoch bleibt Xingyin der Meinung, dass man sie kaum als schön bezeichnen könne. Das Boy-Drama hätte gerne weniger Platz einnehmen können, dabei wäre schön gewesen zu sehen, wie aussergewöhnlich Xingyin als Kriegerin ist. Was mir gut gefallen hat, waren die Mythen und Beschreibungen der chinesisch anmutenden Umgebung. Der Schreibstil war für mich zu naiv, passt aber irgendwie zu Xingyin. Ich werde die Serie wahrscheinlich nicht weiterverfolgen, da ich bezweifle, dass sie sich grossartig steigern wird.

A fantasy story inspired by Chinese mythology, with a lovely female heroine. The setting is beautiful, above the mortal realm, you find the magical Celestial kingdom with other realms of immortals and the moon, where young Xingyin grows up peacefully with her loving mother and a doting servant. Until one day, when Xingyin has to flee and suddenly has to look after herself, and so many things happen, good and bad, and Xingyin grows into an amazing, strong, and clever warrior. It's like a rollercoaster ride, up and down and breathtakingly captivating.

A beautiful and magical read. the world building and releationships where all written so perfectly! The vibe of the book is so wonderful and mystical, you almsot forget that you're still reading.

After I had finished this book I was not sure if the next ones on my reading list could come to this satisfaction (and I was right). The beginning may not be the best but it sure was worth keeping on reading. It was nice to have a character that sticks to their goal and doesn´t need to be safed all the time by someone else. For me it was a rather wholesome reading experience, partly because it´s different from the ones usually found on the fantasy bookshelfs in European book stores.
