Wunderschönes Buch
Eine absolut gelungene Neu-Erzählung der Geschichte von Achilles und Patrokolos und des Trojanischen Krieges. Das Buch ist unglaublich schön geschrieben. Herzerwärmend, aber gleichzeitig herzzerreißend! -

A beautiful tale of friendship, love and (be)longing
This retelling of the story of Achilles through the eyes of Patroclus is filled with emotion and love. You as the reader get to see the two grow up together and experience the development of the friendship and love between them. The tender moments between Achilles and Patroclus are extremely touching and left me with a fuzzy feeling. All the more devastating are the later developments (which isn't a spoiler because everyone who knows their Greek mythology knows how their story ends). Madeline Miller is the modern master of Greek mythology and her writing is incredibly atmospheric. This is definitely an all time favourite!!! And as a true fan I absolutely had to buy this stunning anniversary edition! -

This book has a very special place in my heart!
As a fan of Greek mythology, I finally had to catch up with this classic by Madeline Miller. The book - which, by the way, is hyped on TikTok and even has its own song for it - tells the story of the special bond between Achilles and Patroclus, who grow up together and fight in the war against Troy. Miller based this on the Illiad, but brought her own take on the love story between Achilles and Patroclus. And this love is heartbreaking! It moved me to tears at times and sent me on a roller coaster of emotions without being cheesy. The narrative is creative and well thought out and has some unexpected twists. The ending is almost cathartic. The book won't let me go even after reading it and has a very special place in my heart!
