Cackle

It's my first book by Rachel Harrison and I had so much fun reading it! I think it's not really much of a horror novel, although there are a few situations which are a little creepy. It's more of a cozy horror one might say. The beginning definitely gives off cozy "new life new me" small town vibes. Annie just got dumped by her boyfriend and tries to start anew in a small town upstate. Everthing seems so cute and picturesque, the people are nice and welcoming, her apartment looks decent, she is more than sure that she can be happy there. Especially when she meet Sophie, a gorgeous looking woman in her late 30s (or early 40s?) who seems to be the towns celebrity hence the overfriendly and supportive neighbours reactions to her. Things start to take a weird turn when spiders keep appearing in Annies apartment and the people drop warnings to be more cautious in terms of befriending Sophie. The book was a fairly fast read for me, since the story was easygoing and, to be honest, I could't have enough of the little fluffy side kick ;)
