    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Unsettling and unique

This had me at the edge of my seat while reading. An action packed, high stakes thriller that was really unique and exciting. The ending felt a bit rushed but other than that an amazing, unsettling read!

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    You love horror? Prove it...

A bunch of horror/thriller fans thrown into their personal hell of sick little survival games. That premise alone got me good. But once it became clear how they all are connected in a way, I could not put the book down. Henry's storytelling full of suspense, female rage and book and classic horror movie references, kept me hooked and eager to find out what the hell is going on. The revelation of the whole scheme was a bit lacking for me in the way of how it went down. It seemed like something was missing for it all to have a little bit more of a satisfying "oomph" to it. The karma of that last sentence though... chef's kiss. All in all, a fantastic read that really makes you want turn the pages faster and faster.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

"The Truman Show," but in a horror genre setting

What if the world you lived in wasn't real, and there was no escape? "Good Girls Don't Die" explores the mysterious tales of three young women, each thrust into a nightmarish scenario of their own. Bound by their favorite genres, they unknowingly become players in a twisted game, with only one way out from this unimaginably surreal nightmare. The story is told in four parts, with each of the first three focusing on a different character and perspective: Celia, Allie, and then Maggie. The fourth part brings everything together. Each woman is suddenly pushed into an unfamiliar environment, feeling like they're in a feverish dream, while dealing with personal challenges that blur the lines between reality and fantasy. As they navigate through their own trials, they continuously question their sanity surrounded by the surreal horrors they face. After reading the backside of the book multiple times, I was convinced it was perfect for me, promising everything I seek in a thriller. However, with each story, my expectations faded away. The first part, centered around Ceclia's narrative, was undeniably gripping, drawing me in with the cozy crime elements. Yet, as the perspectives shifted to different characters in the following parts, I found myself struggling to stay thrilled. The constant change in focus made it difficult to connect deeply with any character. The structural concept of the book is interesting, like an attempt for the reader to uncover the truth. Overall, each part seemed to revolve around men being sexist and women dealing with the results, which, while undoubtedly reflective of real-life struggles, became somewhat predictable.
