Stranger Things: Flight of Icarus

Things are rough for Eddie Munson in Hawkins Indiana. His family history, overall attitude and love for DND solidified him as a pariah. But when a chance to escape matirialises itself, Eddie doesnt hesitate to grab it, the only issue he needs money, fast. SPOILER for the book and the show After Eddies tragic and way to early end in the show (thanks to some very lackluster and uncreative writing) I obviously wanted to know more about one of the most interesting characters of the series and what can I say I was underwhelmed. This could have been the perfect oppertunity to explore why exactly he wouldve stayed in Hawkins and this story just gives him all the more reason to leave. His best friend goes to college and his fling/girlfriend offers him to joyn her in California so he can get a deal with a record label, wich is his literal dream and he throws it all away because of a conversation with Hopper?? I understand the sentiment of giving him all hes wanted and then ripping it away to make it extra tragic but it just wasnt executed well. On a positive note, I did appreciate Chrissys little cameo and the friendship of corroded coffin, also the relationship between Eddie and his father Al was interesting to read. As a fazit I can say that it is a solid book but it really depends on what you want from it. If you want an expansion of the "Stranger Things" universe focussing on Eddie, this book is perfect. If you expect an in depth, logically sound character study, this might not be the book for you.
