Da ich „It ends with us“ gelesen habe, habe ich natürlich „It starts with us“ auch gelesen. Es bringt uns ein Happy End für Lily. Es hat mich nicht so abgeholt wie das erste Buch, aber war dennoch gut!

A rather shallow sequel for my taste. I had the feeling that Colleen Hoover tried to make it all right again, after what went wrong between Atlas, Lily and Ryle in the first part. I think she intended to keep this story close to reality, with the subject of domestic abuse and how this can change people from one generation to the next. Unfortunately, in this sequel, that topic was moved to the side and only mentioned briefly; it seemed not so important anymore. As a result, the connection to reality got lost. The relationship between Atlas and Lily gets the main attention, with Atlas being the new perfect man in her world.

One of the most dreadful books l've ever read. The story is completely detached from reality, making it feel utterly delusional. The male character, Atlas, is portrayed as the "perfect man," but this perfection is so obviously the product of a woman's imagination that it becomes laughable. His personality, actions, and words are so idealized that he feels more like a fantasy than a real person. It's frustrating to read because no one like this could exist in real life. In the first book, the author truly impressed me by depicting the cycle of domestic violence with striking accuracy. She did an excellent job showing the complexities and dynamics that arise in an abusive relationship, making it a compelling and impactful read. However, this second book feels like it was written solely to meet fan demands, and it's painfully obvious that the goal here was to deliver a happy ending. While I would wholeheartedly recommend the first book for its raw and honest portrayal, I cannot say the same for this sequel. It's an unrealistic, shallow follow-up and a total waste of time.
