A nice read, with some issues.

All Ash wants is to be an alchemist, too bad that not everyone gets to be one. He still tries, but then he gets caught by Ramsay, who doesn't immediately rat him out, but decides to blackmail him into helping her find the Book of Source. As they work together their feelings for each other change, but then they get separated and Ash meets a red-guard who seems to be on his side. A queer fantasy story, vividly written and with an intriguing story. I liked the book, but it does have its issues. The pacing his weird at times and the characters are pretty one dimensional as well. The romance also developed rather quickly for my personal taste, but at least there was no sudden love triangle that lasted. The queer representation is pretty solid though. This book is a nice read for a quiet evening.

I always love reading fantasy stories with a diverse cast of characters, which was certainly the case here. There were some slight pacing issues, which didn't bother me too much because the writing was extremely vivid and pleasing to read.
