WTF

Bewertung am 12.01.2021

Bewertungsnummer: 1129304

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

In the beginning I was pretty bored and I knew what had happened pretty soon but at about 40% I realized that was not the point of this book at all. From the middle onwards it picks up and gets deeper into physics and gets more and more mind fucking. I am speechless right now but it was really good. Not at all what I was expecting but I’m so glad I pushed through.

Our world the only one?

When Jason wakes up in this foreign place and those strange people, he is confused. He finds no clear answer why everything is so different, or is it only in his mind? And what do all those people want from him, he’s got no clue, the only thing he wants is to go home to his family. There is the only place he can find happiness, but where this place is, nothing seems as it is. This story starts quite strangely, but not in a weird way. With Jason’s memory loss initially, it seemed very unclear where this story might be heading. Further into the book, my interest was sparked, and the plot took a turn I didn’t expect. You are swept through the middle part, absolutely time-forgetting despite the mind-bending topic. Here the author writes on a subject I’ve only seen on TV before. Maybe the author got his inspiration from a well-known series called Fringe. I thought only the end was inconclusive, too abrupt for my liking. It truly is a happy end, and with so many still open possibilities left to explore that book could have gone on indefinitely. It’s in my opinion a good book to start a journey into science fiction, it definitely was for me. I might try to read other books by Blake Crouch, for example, the Wayward Pines trilogy.
