The Stolen Heir (A Novel of Elfhame) Where TikTok's Faerie Obsession Began

The development of the characters and the secrets that were revealed about them were definitely the most exciting thing about this book for me. But I also liked the idea of the story very much and it was a joy to dive into this familiar fanatsy world again. I would never have expected the end of the book and I am very much looking forward to finding out what happens in the next volume.

It felt so easy to return to Elfhame in 'the stolen heir'. The story is haunting, captivating, it makes your bones shiver and you yearn for more. I loved the characters, i loved the story, i loved the world. i loved it!

Amazing, i was very happy to be back in Elfhame. Wren and Oak are amazingly protraied, now all grown up. Holly Balck never seems to let me down!

It took me maybe a week to finish the first three books in The Folk of the Air series. This took me over a month, and I feel like that says a lot about the way this dragged. I don’t know if it’s that I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump, but I found myself often bored by this. I never felt like I had to pick it up again. I like the characters, I love the backstories, the setting is still wonderful and I do love that it seems somewhat darker than the previous novels, and yet this still fell very flat for me. I think my biggest issue that ultimately dragged this story down is the execution of the plot itself. The beginning started super promising and the idea reads very interesting, but then actually reading it, it wasn’t? The plot didn’t feel like it was moving in any direction that I cared to know more about. The end however, greatly picked up again so I do really hope the next part is more of what I had expected. I also know that the focus of this story isn’t the romance, but the little there was always felt very contrived? I didn’t much believe for a moment that they were anywhere near that close, or that interested in one another. At least I don’t feel that way, even if some clues may have been there. I think it’s overall mediocre. I give it a little above aberage rating still considering that I do love the way this author writes, I love the world and its descriptions as well as the characters and the darkness of some of it. But the story itself that was told is what loses stars on an otherwise way higher rated read.
