    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    I liked more than expected

This book is a YA. Have that in mind if you expect the characters to act as their contaparts in the OG book, they will not. The main beats of OG book are in here and characters borrow their names but that is were similarity ends. I liked trans character and how their feeling are being portraited when being forsed to wear dresses. It gave me a glimps how a trans person may feel will the gender expectation of society. For that I love the book. The story had a good flow. No misunderstanding trope that draaaags. It was a very good book. For an YA book I would recommend it even to older readers. PS. If you are looking for Victorian setting, characters in their late 20s maybe 30s, a trans woman characzer, childhood friends, falling in love, so stupidly heartwarming romantic, and some spice I recommend A LADY FOR A DUKE.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Interesting characters, disappointing adaptation

First of all, this book is well written and it was a pleasant read. The characters are interesting and well-rounded, making the love story between Oliver and Darcy very enjoyable. I was disappointed by the adaptation. Apart from the characters' names and the general existence of balls and gowns for the Regency Era vibes this felt nothing like an Austen novel. The characters were all aged down, Darcy's "pride" is easily and quickly explained by his queerness and Oliver's "prejudice" is basically non-existent because the main conflict between them is solved after roughly 70 pages. To me, the book would have been much more enjoyable if the author had simply written a book about a trans man falling in love with a friend while struggling through the period-typical transphobia. The vague references to Pride & Prejudice do nothing for the plot and constantly threw me off

    Beautiful!

The first book that managed to make my heart flutter and got me to giggle like a lovestruck teen! It's now a favorite book of mine! Oliver and Darcy just have such a wonderful, tender love story that it's hard not to be swept up in it!

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

    I loved it, most ardently.

This book was everything I hoped for—romantic, moving, and utterly delightful. With its compelling characters, heartfelt storytelling, and beautifully woven themes of love and identity, it swept me away from start to finish, I simply couldn't put it down. I adored every moment, most ardently.

    I love this book!

The story so well written. I liked that it stayed close to the original but at the same it is its very own story. I love the relationship between Darcy and Oliver and the way Oliver’s feelings are portrayed. I definitely will recommend this to my friends <3

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

"It was a special thing, to have one's reflection in harmony with who they were."

It has taken me quite a while to properly collect and order my thoughts about this book, because I adore it so much. It perfectly captures the essence of the original but still manages to be it's own story. I am a big fan of all things Pride and Prejudice, it's one of the very few classics I have actually read and I don't even know how many times I've watched the 2005 movie. This is a trans and queer retelling so obviously I had to have it. Trust me when I say that this book feels exactly like the original in terms of vibes and I am so happy that the author kept all the quotes in it that are well-known and well-loved. Oliver and Mr. Darcy are adorably messy, as you would expect, and overall when it comes to retellings it doesn't get much better than this. I had to wait three months after it was published for it to get delivered but it was absolutely worth the wait!!

    Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

A diverse Pride and Prejudice Retelling!!

Most Ardently is part of the classic remixed series, in which authors from marginalized backgrounds reinterpret classic works through their own cultural lens to subvert the overwhelming cishet, white, and male canon. We follow Oliver Bennet, the trans main character, who yearns to live freely and openly in society's patriarchal and cisheteronormative expectations. I don't envy anyone who is given the rask to rewrite Jane Austen, but I found Novoa captures the ratio between the original text while also having some feeling of originality. He also captures the original personalities of the characters while addressing social issues that were relevant to Oliver. Although Novoa took some liberties in the text, I appreciate the historical aspects he wobei into it. There is also a good balance between the transphobia and homophobia and the endearing and cute romance and friendships.
