Modern Divination Spells for Life and Death

Modern Divination by Isabel Agajanian is a witchy dark academia story and the first book in the Spells for Life and Death duology.   Aurelia is studying at Cambridge University and dreams and goals are within reach. But she’s also a witch and has to keep her magical side hidden. That isn’t always easy especially when someone starts hunting witches and she’s losing more and more of her green magic. I absolutely loved her magic and Aurelia in general because she’s intelligent and strong. She totally gave me Diana from A Discovery of Witches vibes which I absolutely loved.   The only one who can help her is her rival and fellow witch Theodore. He’s broody, yet charming and I loved him more with each page. Rivals-to-lovers in an academic setting is my absolute favorite and I loved their bickering and these two push each other for the better. Theodore’s family is also amazing, and it was such a great found family.   The plot was so captivating, and it focused mainly on the characters while it also included mystery and magic and I was immediately invested. Aurelia and Theodore are an amazing team and they fit so well together and are each other’s equal. The setting was so secluded and atmospheric and immediately gave cozy vibes and don’t even get me started on the magical bookstore and for that alone you need to check out this book.   Modern Divination is cozy, magical, and thrilling at the same time and that in combination with a dash of romance was amazing.
