The Place Where They Buried Your Heart

When I read the blurb of the story, I expected a classical haunted house story. But "The Place where they buried your heart" was much more- part mystery, part paranormal and coming-of-age. I could relate to Jessie, the PoV of this story. We first meet her when she is 13 years old and loses her little brother Paul to the lonely McIntyre house. Paul disappears in this house- no one finds him. The fall of the whole family begins. Jessie also loses her father and mother als a reaction to this terrible loss. The author described the tensed relation between Jessie and her mother who drowns in grief very well. The whole book had nostalgia vibes, but the good sort of vibes. It was a real page-turner for me and the end came sooner than expected. I loved the combination of psychological and paranormal horror. This won't be the last book I've read from Christina Henry and I am looking forward to her future horror novels!

Im letzten Buch von Christina Henry hat mir der Grusel gefehlt. Umso mehr holt mich ihr neuestes Buch ab. Vom Anfang bis zum Ende des Buches ist man gespannt, was passieren wird. Neben der Spannung ist es auch eine sehr berührende Geschichte, die sich mit dem Thema „Zerrissene“ Familien auseinandersetzt.
