Across the Vanishing Sky

This was exactly what I expected and, to be quite honest, exactly what I needed. I read the second novel first because I got my hands on that one first, but this didn’t take away too much from this novel, as there are two thrilling plotlines. Braedyn returns to Starlight Grove, the town that took her best friend from her. Together with her son, she moves into a cabin and starts a new life while also investigating the disappearance of her best friend on her own. Her grumpy next-door neighbor is conveniently an ex-FBI hacker that we know from the Sparrow Hall series. This was nothing particularly special, but Cowles always writes novels that are thrilling and that you can read in one sitting. The suspense, combined with the small-town setting, is the perfect combination and makes this new world exciting to dive into and escape from the daily grind. But, to be quite frank, I don’t know if the two thriller plotlines did the book any good. I think the author should have continued with only one. I will recommend this series to anyone who wants some extra thrill to a normal romance novel
