The Masterpiece

I read this for the first time back in 2018, and it put me in a reading slump because it was soo good. It’s a christian romance novel, so it might not be for everyone but in my opinion, faith and religion are dealt with in a very open minded way. There’s few clichés in that regard but some more when it comes to the romance part What this book so masterfully shows is how God’s grace 'works', if you will, without being condescending or judgmental. It’s about Roman Velasco, a well-loved and renound artist that has lost his inspiration and way a bit. In addition he seems to be dealing with something potentially life-threatening. He’s looking for a PA that is found in Grace who is in desperate need of a job to support herself and her son, as she doesn’t want to have to adopt him. While it’s normal business in the beginning, both parties start to develop feelings for each other. But since both of them carry some baggage from their past it’s not as easy as it might have been for them to end up together. Maybe that baggage is even too much in the end. I’m trying to find the right words to tell you how this story made me feel but I’m struggling. I just really, really love it. Also, there were some details that I fad forgotten about, as it’s been almost 4 years since I last read it. I enjoyed this re-read a lot! If you believe in God - or if you’re curious as to what a christian romance novel looks like - you might enjoy this. It’s definitely not the innocent or chaste story you might expect.
