A true fable, it is a portrait of two young artists' ascent, a prelude to fame, now illustrated with images from iconic photographers including Judy Linn, Kate Simon, and Harry Smith and with a new introduction from the author.

fascinating insights
This book truly is worth the hype! I was already fascinated by Patti Smiths life and the 1960s and 70s are one of my favorite times to read about in US culture and art, as everything is so interwoven with each other. 'Just Kids' focusses on Patti and her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe. Her eloquency and unique world view make this a highly fascinating story. Even if you didin't know her beforehand, if you are looking for a well written memoir: This is the one! I can also highly recommend checking out the audiobook as Patti Smith narrates it herself. Do have a physical or digital copy nearby though as the picture are obviously missing in the narration. ;) -

An incredibly fascinating stroy written by an incredibly fascinating woman. Brilliant and emotional from start to finish. Patti Smiths grasp on prose, lyric and literature is unmatched and this book should really be read at least once in every persons life. -

Spannend, aber stellenweise zäh...
"Just Kids" von Patti Smith hat mir einen interessanten Einblick in ihr Leben und das Künstlerdasein in New York der 60er- und 70er- Jahre gegeben. Ich kannte Patti Smith vorher nicht, daher war es spannend, mehr über ihre Geschichte zu erfahren. Trotzdem viel es mit schwer, durchgehend am Ball zu bleiben. Ohne persönlichen Bezug zur Autorin wirkten manche Passagen lang gezogen, und das Lesen hat sich für mich stellenweise ziemlich gezogen. -

Ein Buch, von dem ich nichts erwartet hatte und alles bekommen habe. Ich konnte es nicht mehr aus der Hand legen und fiel komplett in die Welt von Patti Smith. Eine lohnenswerte Lektüre!
