Vorab, ich bin eigentlich kein grosser Fan von Rock’n’Roll, aber dieses Buch hat mein von A-Z fasziniert. Die Geschichte spielt in den 70ern und dreht sich um die aufstrebende Rockband “The Six” und die mysteriöse Sängerin Daisy Jones. Die Autorin hat einen faszinierenden Weg gewählt, die Geschichte zu erzählen - in Form von Interviews mit den Bandmitgliedern, Produzenten und anderen Beteiligten. Das verleiht dem Ganzen eine Doku-Vibe, den ich so noch nie erlebt habe.
Was ich absolut toll fand, war die Charakterentwicklung. Daisy ist wild, frei und gleichzeitig zerbrechlich. Die Bandmitglieder der Six sind so lebendig dargestellt, dass man fast glaubt, ihre Musik hören zu können, während man liest. Die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen sind so gut ausgearbeitet, dass ich manchmal vergessen habe, dass ich über fiktive Personen lese.
Liebe, Eifersucht, Rivalität - alles ist dabei. Es gibt Momente, die so intensiv sind, dass ich das Buch einfach nicht aus der Hand legen konnte. Die Art und Weise, wie Reid die verschiedenen Perspektiven einfängt, ist wirklich beeindruckend. Man fühlt sich, als wäre man selbst ein Teil der Band. Unbedingt lesen!
