I truly loved everything about this book and the entire series. Stephanie Garber manages to create a world that feels both familiar and completely magical at the same time. Her writing is incredibly vivid and enchanting and I was completely immersed in the story from the very first page. The setting, the little details and all the mysterious elements made the whole story feels like a modern fairy tale that I never wanted to escape from. At the heart of the story is evangeline who, after a great heartbreak makes a bargain with the mysterious Prince Jacks. What initially seems like a simple solution to her problems draws her deeper and deeper into a world filled with magic, curses, secrets and fate. What I especially loved was the dynamic between Evangeline and Jacks. Their relationship is filled with tensions, secrets and that special kind of slow-burn romance that kept me invested and constantly rooting for them. I also absolutely loved the characters. Jacks in particular is the kind of character you can never quite predict and thats exactly what made him so fascinating to me. At the same time, Evangeline grows so much throughout the story and you can really feel and experience everything alongside her.

This book is undeniably a masterpiece. Kind of want to ditch the real world and live in the Magnificient North as well. I love Evangeline and I too would make a deal with a fate if he was Jacks, can´t blame her. This was my first fantasy read ever and definitely not my last from Stephanie Garber.

I was hesitant at first to start this trilogy because of the hype it got, but it was definetly worth it ! The worldbuilding and characters feel so magical yet realistic enough to relate to. I really liked the suspense this story gave along with the romance.
