A Little Life Picador Collection

This Book follows the life of four guys. It talks about their friendship, hardships and traumas. But with no doubt the most heartbreaking of them all is Jude's fate. There has not been one talk about books without me mentioning this one. To me A Little Life is an outstanding book which has made me cry the most tears any story has ever. The way Hanya Yanagihara makes you feel every word written down is incredible to me. It is not a short book, by any means, but no dout worth thr ride.

A Little Life erzählt die Geschichte von vier jungen Männern, ihrer Freundschaft, ihren Höhen und Tiefen, ihrem Leben... Dieses Buch könnte ich nicht vergessen wenn ich es wollte. Etwas so Schönes und Tragisches hatte ich vorher noch nie gelesen und bei keinem Buch habe ich je so geweint. Ich kann nur Jedem ans Herz legen, es selbst zu lesen.

Die einen lieben es, die anderen hassen es, aber es ist mein absolutes Lieblingsbuch. Hanya Yanagiharas Schreibstil lässt einen direkt in die Gefühlswelt der Protagonisten eintauchen. Noch Wochen nachdem ich das Buch beendet habe, musste ich immer wieder daran denken. Ein emotionales, unfassbares und zugleich packendes Buch.

A little life forever shaped the way in which I read books. And it definitely set a new standard to my understanding of stories. Yanagiharas way of writing gives such an incredible insight into the human experience, one could almost feel like a member of the friend group surrounding Jude. While the book itself covers a variety of very difficult and traumatising aspects, it also captures the magical power of human connection. I could probably talk about this for hours.....

I knew this book would make me cry and break me but I still cried and cried for hours while reading it and after finishing it... It was the depiction of the purest form of friendship and love that got me so hooked. I felt like I was a hidden companion on Malcom's, Jude's, Willem's and JB's journey though life. Sometimes I wanted to scream at every single one of them. I wanted to hug them, I wanted to help them heal. It was definitely a book that consumed me completely and even after finishing it I felt like I could still feel the hatred and shame some characters made me feel, but also the affection, loyalty and deep love the four friends felt towards each other. From the start you wanted to know what happened to Jude, even if it would break you apart. After he revealed everything I felt so much hatred and was once again disappointed in human kind... Expect some very brutal and gut wrenching scenes! I can't comprehend how so many bad things can happen to such a kind and loving person... I am so glad that he got to live these happy years... even though they ended in so much sadness and misery.
