Beautiful and hard to put down

A fantasy story inspired by Chinese mythology, with a lovely female heroine. The setting is beautiful, above the mortal realm, you find the magical Celestial kingdom with other realms of immortals and the moon, where young Xingyin grows up peacefully with her loving mother and a doting servant. Until one day, when Xingyin has to flee and suddenly has to look after herself, and so many things happen, good and bad, and Xingyin grows into an amazing, strong, and clever warrior. It's like a rollercoaster ride, up and down and breathtakingly captivating.

    Beautiful and wondrous

I have to say, at first I was dissapointed how naive and childish the story/perspective of the MC was written. But then, I was drawn in by the story nonetheless. Emotions and surroundings are truly beautifully described. It really spoke to my inner child. Yes, I do think the plot contains little realism but mind you it is a fantasy book. If you need an enthralling escape from reality and heal your inner child, then this is a book I would recommend.

    very wholesome

After I had finished this book I was not sure if the next ones on my reading list could come to this satisfaction (and I was right). The beginning may not be the best but it sure was worth keeping on reading. It was nice to have a character that sticks to their goal and doesn´t need to be safed all the time by someone else. For me it was a rather wholesome reading experience, partly because it´s different from the ones usually found on the fantasy bookshelfs in European book stores.

    Wunderschön!

"Daughter of the Moon Goddess" hat mich verzaubert.

Enthusing take on the Chinese Myth of the Moon Goddess

Even though the cover drew me to this book, the story did not disappoint. The author took the well-known myth about the Chinese moon goddess and wrote a beautiful story about the daughter that could have been. Xingyin, said daughter, was hidden from the Celestial Majesties, because her mother might've become immortal but much to the disapproval of the Empress.

Let your mind ascend to the clouds

I fell in love with Tan's writing inspired by Chinese mythology, and her devotion to the magical description of the sceneries. Not only did she give us an brave and headstrong protagonist, but also a plot that never fails to test Xingyin's bravery through challenges and intrigues. It made me feel a bunch of emotions, stretching from happiness to devestation. It's the right choice for everyone seeking fantasy including violent sceneries of war just as much as the difficulties of a love triangle.

What a book! I loved it!

Every time I thought, "What could come now? Everything is accomplished", the book surprised me with its twists and turns. The story is told in a soft tone at first. A beautiful story begins when the protagonist has to flee. She wants to save her mother and fights herself (often literally) through everything to reach her goal. The love story was beautiful yet heartbreaking. But this story is not just a story of new beginnings, but also of second chances. I am really thrilled for book two and I can just recommend "Daughter of the Moon Goddess"!

What a beautiful book this was!...

What a beautiful book this was! A fantasy take on Chinese Mythology and all I can say it was breathtaking. The world building, the characters, the romance and just all the mythology aspects were perfectly blended together. Definitely cannot wait for the sequel to be released!
