The Borrow a Boyfriend Club

Noah has transferred to a new school. His goal? To prove to everyone that he is a boy. To prove it, he wants to join the “borrow a boyfriend club”. As the name suggests, members of the club can be “borrowed” for dates. But to be allowed to join this club, Noah has to pass three test phases in which he has to prove his boyfriend skills. Among other tasks, he has to romance the club president, Asher Price. However, Asher is quite a prick, although handsome. While Noah tries to pass the phases, he stumbles upon the “don't fall in love” rule. Will he manage to stick to it? This book is an easy 5* read!!! It was so great to read a story about a trans person, a lot of my thoughts and feelings were mirrored in Noah. It was just so much fun to read this story because all the story lines as well as characters interest me so much! I'm really looking forward to reading more by Page Powars! :)

This book was so much fun! There's humour and romance and friendships, in short everything you could wish for. And it was all done so well! The main character of this book is trans, and while we see him struggle with common issues for trans people, we also see him succeed and grow into himself despite everything and I just always love to see trans joy. This book really ended 2023 on a high note and I can't wait for Page Powar's next book.

It is rare for trans characters to play the main character in a cheerful story. That makes it all the more wonderful when you do find them. Especially when the characters are portrayed in a multifaceted way and are not reduced to their trans identity. I'm always cautious about trans romance books because the characters are often reduced to stereotypes. That's not the case in this book. It's simply a great, representative, cute queer romance. I look forward to reading everything Page Powars writes in the future.
