    Love hate this

    Ich habe dieses Buch und diese Charakter soo unglaublich geliebt. Ich war vom ersten Moment an gespannt wie und wohin sich diese Geschichte entwickeln würde. Orion und Valentino waren so liebenswerte, gutgeschriebene Charaktere und das New York Setting hat sich, trotz der Häufigkeit in Literatur, erfrischend angefühlt. Deren Reise zusammen war herzzerreißend, sowie absolut mitreißend. Ich werde diese Geschichte vermissen und wünschte ich könnte sie noch einmal zum ersten Mal lesen.

    I'll give you my heart <3

    Ich liebe das Death-Cast Universum und wie komplex und sympathisch die Charaktere sind. Was mich auch immer wieder begeistert hat, sind die vielen Details, die eingebaut wurden und wie perfekt Band 2 mit Band 1 zusammenhängt. Dass Rufus und Mateo aus Band 1 Gastauftritte hatten, hat mich sehr gefreut. Ich hatte dabei auch nicht das Gefühl, dass die beiden auf Zwang noch reingeschrieben wurden, sondern es hat einfach gepasst. Ein sehr gelungenes Prequel. Ich freue mich riesig auf weitere Bücher dieser Reihe.

    Omg

    Orion und Valentino sind noch viel süßer als Mateo und Rufus, definitiv ein richtiges matching couple. The first to die at the end ist ja das prequel zu they both die at the end, deswegen war es echt gut das viele Details in der Geschichte waren wie Death-Cast gestartet ist. Die Einblicke in die Arbeit von Death-Cast waren sehr realistisch und haben das ganze sehr menschlich wirken lassen Es gibt auch einen Einblick in die Arbeit des Callcenters, die sehr realistisch dargestellt ist. Da haben wahrscheinlich auch die vielen Perspektivwechsel geholfen, denn man liest nicht nur aus der Perspektive von Orion und Valentino, sondern auch unter anderem aus der von dem Gründer von Death-Cast und einem Mitarbeiter. Aber auch aus der Perspektive von vielen anderen Akteuren, für mich hat das die Geschichte nur abgerundet und nicht kompliziert gemacht. Das Buch ist definitiv ein Highlight mit so einer schönen Geschichte, die einen sehr beeinflusst und mich auch ein wenig zum Nachdenken angeregt hat. Die beiden schaffen so viele unglaublich schöne Momente und werden zu richtig guten Freunden. Man muss jeden Tag seines Lebens so leben, als wäre es der letzte.

    A great prequel to 'They both...

    A great prequel to 'They both die in the end'! A machine that can predict when you die has just been launched and this stories main character is the first to receive that message. This novel really makes you think about your life. It's fun to read & surely won't leave your mind!

    Breaks your heart and replaces it

    Adam Silvera loves to break your heart. This book will wreck you and you will love it. Knowing the concept of death cast, you will probably not be in as much denial as in the first one but oh boy you will hope. And yet he found a way to make this story not repetitive at all. I cannot say much except Silvera had me ugly crying on the train and I was helpless and yet enjoyed it so very much. Thank you.

    The first day of a new era…

    Good God, this book left me sobbing more than once. While I enjoyed the first book, “They Both Die at the End”, I didn't feel quite as emotional about it as I do about this book. This book is a prequel and takes place during the first day after 'Death-Cast' went live, and it somehow has a different feel to it. A much more gut punching feel. We do know how the story ends, but due to the fact that in this book 'Death-Cast' isn't established to be actually legit, the main characters hold this fragile and sad kind of hope. The whole time they're wondering if it's truly real or if this whole 'Death-Cast' thing is just a huge prank, and it hurts when the slow resignation to their fate sets in. I was devastated by end, because Orion and Valentino just click so well together, but also their relationships with the side characters were well done. The ending is so bitter-sweet, and I think that's what did me in, one of the couple survives and is left to deal with the loss, but still has this part of the other with him. Argh, I just adore doomed romances sometimes. I enjoyed this book a lot and this will forever be one of my top recommendations for heartbreaking stories. It's a worthwhile read, but oh so devastating as well.

    perfect prequel for "They Both Die At The End"

    The First To Die At The End is the perfect continuation for the "They Both Die At The End" universe. Following the Death-Cast concept, the story introduces Orion and Valentino who receive notice that they will die within 24 hours shortly after Death-Cast goes live. The novel continues to follow them as they spend their last day together and as expected fall in love. Another heart wrenching book - big recommendation if you want to cry about two queer boys.
