The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is a gripping thriller that’s hard to put down. Thanks to its simple and fluid writing style, the book is a quick read, you’ll fly through the pages. The short chapters, in particular, keep the tension building and make you want to keep reading. The story follows Millie, who takes a job as a housekeeper for the wealthy Winchester family in an effort to get her life back on track. But she soon realizes that something is amiss in the seemingly perfect house. The characters, in particular, are very well-developed because they seem complex, and you never quite know who to trust. This keeps the story interesting and unpredictable throughout. What impressed me most was the ending. The twist came completely out of the blue, and I had to take a moment to process it because suddenly everything you’d thought before had changed. It’s precisely these surprising moments that make the book a real page-turner. Overall, The Housemaid is a gripping and easy-to-read thriller with well-developed characters, plenty of suspense, and an ending that definitely sticks with you.

Perfect. Plot twist after plot twist, and at the beginning I had absolutely no clue where this book journey would take me. A super easy read, especially for English and thriller newbies the perfect start. The book is about Millie and her new job at a beautiful family’s house. But something is off, and the people are acting very strange. 5/5 stars!! :)
