Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop

Mein Herz sang als ich das Buch gelesen habe! Ich habe mich verliebt, denn es hat mir meine Liebe zum Lesen zurückgebracht. Es hat mich daran erinnert, was es bedeutet zu seinen Wurzeln zurückzukehren und doch als Person zu wachsen. Zu akzeptieren und zu wachsen. Zu lernen und zu lieben. Es erinnert einen zu leben.

“Books are not meant to remain in your mind, but in your heart” Dieses Buch hat einen riesigen Wohlfühlfaktor und entführt dich in einen kleinen Buchladen in Hyunam-Dong. Die Figuren des Buches (Mitarbeiter des Buchladens und deren Stammkunden) erzählen eine unheimlich schöne Geschichte über das Leben und zeigen alle auf ihre Art und Weise, wie wichtig es ist, seinen Träumen zu folgen.

Ich kann es nicht genau beschreiben aber dieses Buch tat mir sehr gut. Als Bücherliebhaberin ist dieses Buch eine kleine Liebeserklärung und war einfach schön zum lesen und regt auch ein wenig zum Nachdenken an. Sehr natürlich erzählt und ein wenig Balsam für die Seele!

The bookshop theme is already something I enjoy personally, the different people as well as their diverse outlooks on life really make this an interesting story. The Characters individual development feels "real" and not too perfect which makes the reader appreciate their growth all the more. This is a book for anyone questioning where they are in their lifes right now and if its right for them, as it highlights that there is no shame in simply doing what makes you happy and living a simple life. There is no "set path" in life. ~ ཐིཋྀ

3.5-3.75 I have never read a book like this: which is not only thought provoking but also romanticising life in a way that it relatable. Talking about the pain, the struggles and happiness. It took me few pages to get into the writing style; also at certain times the writing was choppy would blame it on the translation. But I did enjoy read it. There was so many good quotes and discussions that I kept highlighting throughout the books, so I could revisit them once again. Each character goes through their own struggles in life, and it’s really sad to see how burnt out they were. I related most to Minju in this book and understood like pain like my own. I really love the setting of this book; about a bookstore in a neighbourhood that brings people together and makes them feel less alone. They ultimately become friends. I did not that the Korean work culture is this toxic and the book shines in conversations like this (about the need of work and life balance). I definitely don’t think this is a cozy book rather than discussion that the author wants to have with the society. I love how the book ended like wrapping a blanket around you and telling you that there is open life and you will find your people, and you will know where you truly fit. Coming to the things that I did not like: 1. Not linear following of events which sometimes confuse me. 2. It was long and could haven cut down to at least 50 pages.
