    Wow!

    Perfection

This is one of the books where I don’t accept any criticism. You didn’t like it? Fine but don’t bother me with your negativity. I’m not top tier fantasy reader, I stick to romantasy and am slowly making my way to high fantasy. This book was, at the time I read it, by far the most complex fantasy I had ever read. Before that, I wasn’t a big fantasy fan, I didn’t like dragons, I nerved experienced such world building. Even as a newby this book CONSUMED me. I began to UNDERSTAND the mastery of building fantasy worlds. I became to only respect a fantasy world system if it’s that complex that a glossary is needed. Great book, read it!

How to Tear a Heart Apart

A kickass female assassin and dragons? That’s all I need to know. I’m in. I expected a fun, fast read—something enjoyable but quickly forgotten. What I got instead was a world so rich, dense, and original that I still haven’t shaken it off. This isn’t just another fantasy filled with fae, elves, or vampires. This is something entirely new: a world with its own language, its own magic system, and creatures I’ve never seen mentioned in any other book. It’s immersive, bold, and incredibly detailed. I love when a book refuses to be rushed—when it demands your full attention because every page holds meaning—and yet it’s so compelling, you still can’t stop reading. No, this isn’t an easy read. You’ll need the glossary and the map. But trust me, it’s worth it. The language is vivid and lyrical, and the pacing flows effortlessly from breathless action to slow, intimate moments. Raeve, Kaan, and the dragons got under my skin. I love Raeve’s fierceness, her amnesia, and the haunting mystery hiding in the shadows of her forgotten past. I love the slow reveal, the aching tension, and the heartbreak that blindsided me more than once. This book wrecked me. It made me cry. And I’ll be suffering—happily—until the next one comes out. Some books fade when you close the cover. This one lingers. Like a scar. Like a spell.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

For romantasy readers looking for complex worlds

“WHEN THE MOON HATCHED” was so different than I expected and very unique (Dragons turning into moons when they die?? Hell, yes! Count me in!). It’s perfect for fans of dragons and court politics/royal family drama. The story took so many unexpected turns and I’m not sure how the author managed it, but it took no time at all to build emotional connections with the characters, even with those that are only mentioned by name, don’t have much dialogue or page time. It’s a Romantasy book first and foremost, but a very low-spice Romantasy, so don’t be discouraged to pick it up if the genre usually isn’t your cup of tea. The politics and action scenes were much more memorable and focused on, as well as the very unique worldbuilding and storytelling structure of mixing the main POVs with some flashbacks and snippets of one character’s past diary entries. At the same time, if you’re new to high fantasy IGNORE that huge glossary. I’m so happy I listened to a reviewer on Instagram who said to just start reading without looking at it. All you need to know, you’ll get through the actual text. “WHEN THE MOON HATCHED” positively surprised me and the second book is already on my TBR!

"Rebellion, Fae, and Dragons...what more do you want?!"

The book caught my attention when it started being compared to ACOTAR and was labelled as one of the best romantasy of the year. And when I saw that it was a THICK book, I had to have it. Did it remind me of 5 different fantasy books I’ve read? Yes. But it had everything I loved about them. The worldbuilding and magical system were intriguing, the relationships in this book were wonderful, & the different POVs, diary entries, & plot twists were so fun.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

"He's fire and brimstone. I'm shattered ice."

An assassin for the rebellion gets into trouble when she meets an unknown acquaintance... Is she really the person she thinks she is? Strong female protagonist in a world full of intrigues, killers and dragons. A bit of a complicated story about different kingdoms and an interesting magic system as well as different breeds of dragons. It leaves you with a few questions but it is definitely catching! Eagerly waiting for the sequel!

    When the Moon Hatched

Raeve, an assassin for the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, lives by one rule: complete the job and vanish without a trace. Her carefully controlled life shatters when a rival bounty hunter crosses her path, triggering a chain of violence that lands her in the high-security prison of the Guild of Nobles (a powerful faction of fae who use her as a political pawn). Kaan Vaegor, a king-slayer haunted by the loss of his great love, embarks on a relentless quest to ease the ache in his chest. His search leads him to the same prison where he encounters Raeve. The collision of their pasts ignites something neither expected. Echoes of a shared history race between them, hinting at a connection far deeper than either realizes. Yet some truths are too dangerous, too poisonous to swallow. On the one hand I really enjoyed this book and loved the story and the world that was created, but on the other hand I disliked so many things. First of all I was not a fan of the writing style and how the author used too many ways to discribe one moment. I was often left confused by things I didn't knew the meaning of because they were noz explained in the story. Yes there is a glosar but espacially for e-book readers its just annoying to have to look up everything in the back of the book. Sadly I am also not dying to read the next part.

Solide, aber nicht das erwartete Meisterwerk

Der Hype um dieses Buch hat mich ein Meisterwerk erwarten lassen - und dadurch enttäuscht zurückgelassen. In wirklich schöner Sprache startet When the Moon Hatched durchaus episch, hat sei.
