It has been a while since I read "The Cat who Saved Books", so I might misremember things a little. I am not sure whether Tiger, the cat from the title, is as much of a puppet master in the background in that one too, but here he is certainly less the protagonist than Nanami, the asthma-ridden girl, who likes to go to the library every day. Like its predecessor, "The Cat who Saved the Library" is divided into a few episodes, but it does feel a little more coherent if a little less imaginative. When I read "... Books" I felt thrown into a Miyazaki movie, while "... the Library" could also be a lower-tier anime. Still it is a fantastic book in every sense of the word. Book lovers will appreciate all the small cameos from the world of literature, including "The Cat who Saved Books". I have loved books more, but it still kept me captivated.

The company of the good book can change ones life forever and makes a companion to you just as long. That is as least what Nanami thinks. (She's right if you ask me). But she notices that many of her friends have gone missing in the library. Shortly after that she meets Tiger the tabby cat who reluctantly asks for her help to save the books. A great book for current times as books get banned for being "dangerous" as is imagination and free thinking. A book that tells you "You are never alone when you have a book with you".

This is a book you read to find comfort and hope. Maybe even to learn something. What if books didn't exist anymore? What if everyone forgot how to think for themselves? A brave young girl wants to prevent this scenario with the help of a talking cat and a lot of optimism. This book is a great reminder that even if you feel weak sometimes, you can achieve great things.
