• small town romance • rivals to lovers • he falls first • found family • forced proximity • neighbors, colleagues & authors • the emails and banter - aaaaah ♥ • third installment of the "When in Rome" series, but can be read as a standalone - but I would deeply recommend to read them in order for the perfect experience! || I love everything that Sarah Adams writes, but this one right here is my absolute favorite of all the novels I've read 'til now. They rised the bar! I giggled, laughed and cried, because Emily and Jackson show some deeply rooted emotions and fears that hitted too close to home at some points. (so yeah, please read the trigger warnings beforehand) || I can't wait to read the fourth novel of this series - every sibling has their story to tell and I will gladly devour it.

The third book of the series won me over! I LOVED the other ones aswell. However, this takes the cake. Emily and Jack are playfull and feisty which makes the whole book fun to read. Her struggles of feeling the need to hide her sadness and be the strongest are super relatable and well written (especially for the eldest daughters). Moreover, the family dynamic the Walkes have is adorable! <3

Beg, Borrow, or Steal ist der dritte Band der Rome Kentucky Reihe und bis jetzt auch mein Lieblingsbuch von Sarah Adams. Emily und Jack waren seit einem Jahrzehnt verfeindete Kollegen, egal wo und wann sie aufeinander trafen, sind die Fetzen geflogen. Damit war dann Schluss, als Jack die Arbeit verlässt, um mit seiner Verlobten zusammenzuziehen. Emily war der Meinung, sie würde ihn nie wieder sehen. Doch wenige Monate später war er wieder da, diesmal nicht nur als Kollege, sondern auch als ihr neuer Nachbar. Ich habe jede Sekunde zusammen mit den beiden geliebt. Jack und Emily hatten mich von Anfang an in ihren Bann gezogen. Die Dynamik und das Gezanke der beiden waren super amüsant. Als es dann ernster zwischen ihnen wurde, konnte ich oft genug kein Lächeln unterdrücken. Sarah Adams hat zwischen witzigen und süßen Momenten der beiden aus der Gegenwart, auch Momente aus der Vergangenheit mit eingebracht. Wie ihre Beziehung vorher war und wie es zu dieser Feindschaft gekommen war. All dies erzählt sie nicht nur in Szenen, sondern auch in der E-Mail-Kommunikation zwischen den beiden, E-Mails, die sie einander schickten oder auch nie abschickten. Eine wunderschöne und witzige Reihe mit großartigen Charakteren. Eine Kleinstadt, die einen auf Trab hält und eine Familie, die einem das Gefühl von zuhause gibt. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, das Buch der letzten Walker-Schwester zu lesen.

And again Sarah Adams proves that she is my all time fav author!! Emily is by far my favorite sibling, I could really relate to her personality and inner conflicts. And the banter between her and Jack was just chef's kiss.

Emily Walker is a creature of habit—and she hates being disrupted. But when her all-time nemesis Jack Bennet moves back into town, disruption is exactly what happens. Not only does he return to the school they both used to teach at, he takes up her favitite spot in the local café AND – cherry on top – he is her new neighbor!     After calling off his planned wedding, Jack has returned to the place he calls home. Besides being an absolute menace to Emily, he does spend his free time writing—after all, he IS a bestselling mystery novelist. But his new neighbor seems to inhibit his mind intensely... and apparently his porch, too? When Emily asks Jack to be her accomplice, the trajectory of their relationship changes.    This book displays one of the best enemies-to-lovers I have ever read. The bickering and sarcasm and just overall vibes Emily and Jack give off are immaculate. Especially his backstory was written wonderfully and provides the reader with insights explaining his behavior in a perfectly executed "show, don't tell" manner. Sadly the character of Emily got increasingly unbearable during the book. Her entire "my Highschool Boyfriend broke my heart and now I dispise relationships and turn into a frustrated, bitter person" stick proved to get increasingly frustrated the further one progressed within the book. Overall this was a cute, fun read with a nice ending, but nothing I'd recommend intensely to my friends.
