Dark domestic suspense meets haunted house horror in this unnerving adult debut guaranteed to keep you awake for days afterward, from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Don't Let the Forest In and Hazelthorn
The walls are closing in on her perfect new life.
Single mother Elodie's life has become a fairy tale. She's met Bren, equal parts Golden-retriever-devoted and sinfully handsome. He's whisked her and her autistic son, Jude, away to the crumbling family house he's renovating. She has a new husband, a new house, and a new baby on the way. Everything is perfect.
Until Jude claims he can hear voices in the walls. He says their renovations are "hurting" the house. Even Elodie can't ignore it-something strange is going on.
The question is, Is it with the house, or with her son?
And what is Elodie hiding?
"A masterpiece." - Ava Reid
"Brilliantly tense, paranoid, masterfully wrought." - Dawn Kurtagich
"Prepare to have your heartstrings clawed." - T. Marie Vandelly

My favourite author for a reason
This book is INCREDIBLE and just proves, that Drews can easily write adult horror while keeping the characters complex and the story as layered as we know from their previous works. Elodie is a unreliable narrator through and through, every chapter adding to the mountain of questions as to *what* exactly is going on in this house; Who and what can we trust? A story that invites to rack your brain over every detail. -

”When a monster sees something else monstrous, he only thinks it pretty.”
I LOVED the previous novels by C.G. Drews, so I was more than delighted that there's now an adult novel by them.... but my hopes crushed fast. There were so many scenes where I wanted to smash my e-reader against a wall, it's frustating.. :c I love their crazy characters and their monstrosity, but when there's a child involved, I'm picky.... especially when this child is autistic... But maybe I'm just not the biggest fan of haunted houses, who knows. I still am more than excited about their new YA novel at the end of the year...
