We Were Liars Now a major TV series on Amazon Prime!

Hab es mittlerweile mehrmals durch, liebe den Schreibstil der Autorin! Suche jetzt nach ähnlichen Büchern, hab mir auch andere bücher von lockhart gekauft, aber das Konzept/thema ist natürlich nie das gleiche/ ähnlich. Würde mich sehr auf eine Buchreihe freuen:)

is it juvenile? yes is the writing style a bit choppy? yes does this make it any less enjoyable? no this is the perfect summer book imo, but you have to go into it completely blind, young me would have been obsessed with this book

I read the book 3 years ago and I still think about it at least once a month. The plot twist was so unexpected and changed the whole story. The writing was very good as well and really easy to understand even as non native speaker. I would recommend this book because it is an amazing story in general and when the plot twist happened the story is even better. If you liked the series you will like the book as well I will promise you you think about that book for a long time after reading it.

Mich hat lange kein Buch mehr so umgehauen, wie dieses hier. Lange habe ich kein Buch mehr gelesen, bei dem das Ende mich sprachlos zurückgelassen hat. Ich habe die ganze Zeit eine Vermutung gehabt, wie das Buch enden wird. Aber ich lag so falsch, das könnt ihr gar nicht glauben. Das war einer dieser Momente, in denen man am Ende noch einmal alle Szenen im Buch sich durch den Kopf gehen lässt. Weil alle auf einmal einen komplett anderen Sinn ergeben. Die Zusammenhänge schweben vor einem, doch man war die ganze Zeit blind. Dies ist bislang eines der besten Bücher, dass ich in diesem Jahr gelesen habe. Was ich wirklich beeindruckend finde ist der zeitlicher Ablauf, welcher gut durchdacht ist. Denn es wird ganz viel Spannung aufgebaut und immer weiter gesteigert, bis es sich wortwörtlich explosiv entlädt. Doch bis es sich entlädt hat der Leser viele offene Fragen. Sogar so viele, dass man fast das Gefühl hat die Kontrolle zu verlieren da, alles so durcheinander erscheint. Wir haben eine interessante Familiendynamik. Während des Lesens sieht man alles ganz wirr, weil teils die Schilderungen aus der Vergangenheit und aus der Gegenwart nicht zusammenpassen scheinen. Man bildet sich also kontinuierlich eine neue Meinung von den Charakteren, sodass es nie an Spannung (und auch an offenen Fragen) fehlt. So oft wollte ich die Charaktere schütteln. Ihnen sagen, dass das wichtigste doch ist, dass sie einander haben. Doch Geld und Macht glänzt leider manchmal so verlockend, während das Herz sich nach Geborgenheit verzehrt. Ferner wird auch das Thema Rassismus behandelt. Gat ist indischer Herkunft, weshalb die Gefühle zwischen Cadence und Gat von der Familie Sinclair, vorrangig von dem Oberhaupt der Familie - Cadence Großvater - negativ beäugt werden. Die Schilderungen des unterschwelligen und phasenweise auch sehr eindeutigen Rassismus tun weh, sind absolut nicht gerechtfertigt, aber verdammt gut beschrieben. Ich konnte die Wut und Frustration förmlich spüren.
