Erwartet habe ich eine sehr leichte Romanze, aber in Wahrheit ist die Geschichte tiefgehend. Ich war wirklich positiv überrascht von einigen Plot-Elementen und hatte sehr viel Spaß beim Lesen!

Beach Read is a mesmerizing romance story about two authors, January and Gus, who are both experiencing a writer's block and so they challenge each other to write in the other's genre. With lots of charme, wit and heartfelt moments this novel will make you fall in love with January and Gus. And with Emily Henry. Beach Read was the first book I have read of hers and ever since I have been completely in love. It is one of my favorite books of all time and Emily Henry is one author I will always instant-buy as soon as she releases something new. A delightful novel, that is not your typical Rom-Com, from the incredible pen that belongs to Emily Henry. Her books always carry a more serious topic and are not always the most lighthearted of Rom-Coms. Despite that her stories always cast a spell over me and she takes me with her into this amazing world, where despite our deeper flaws and despite our problems in life there is a chance at finding love.

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover!

Because in this case the title and cover don't really make sense with the book. I bought this as my literal beach read but in the book they never go to the beach or go swimming and it rains a lot and is cold. Mood-wise it's a perfect autumn read! It's way more deep than expected and made me, a romance-sceptic, crave more from Emily Henry! January and Gus have both experienced deep and terrible losses and have to find their way back to love, both for their craft and for other people. Full of romance tropes and yet a deeply human story. Recommended especially for other romance-sceptics like myself!

One of my favourite books ever

I love everything about this book. I love the setting, the characters, the romance and how it deals with heavier topics alongside the romance, like grief and loss. Aside from that, the interactions between January and Gus are so cute and funny. I love their little trips together and their connection both as friends and as a couple. They are truly beautiful together. This is one of the few romances where I adore even the epilogue chapter, because it feels so real. Absolutely love this book.
