Meine letzte Rezension Atmosphere von Taylor Jenkins Reid
Taylor Jenkins Reid once again blew all my expectations. This Novel not only takes you on a journey through space but also through every conceivable emotion. Joan is such an inspiring main protagonist, standing up for herself and her ambitions in life. I was so invested in the whole Nasa and Stargazing thing that I was about to buy myself a telescope and become an Astronaut myself. Atmosphere is not only about love, it's about fighting for your dreams, it's an elegy to the stars, about grief and becoming the Person you want to be.

    The Picture of Dorian Gray

"Nowdays the people know the price of everything, and the value of nothing" This Book simply is a masterpiece. Oscar Wildes writing is exceptional, because of his sharp wit, poetic language and a deep understanding of human nature. This is not just a novel; it is a profound commentary on the human condition and the price of living without moral restraint. It is also a timeless exploration of beauty, vanity and moral corruption. It´s a darkly seductive read, perfect for those who enjoy thought provoking literature that delves into the consequences of living a life devoted to pleasure and aesthetics.

    The Bell Jar

"Wherever I sat—on the deck of a ship or at a street café in Paris or Bangkok—I would be sitting under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my own sour air." This being a semi-autobiographical novel by Sylvia Plath makes it even more painfully realistic. Everyone should read this Book at least once. Plath has a way of describing thoughts and feelings in such an accurate and unique way, making it easy to relate even to certain feelings I thought one could not really put into words. It´s also one of the few books accurately capturing the way a person drowns in their depression. The Book also portraits the search for a feminine independence as the main protagonist couldn´t bear the standards of the 1950s which constricted women, was dominated by men and the aspiration to start a family.

    The Secret History

"I am nothing in my soul if not obsessive" The secret history is a brilliant, haunting exploration of intellectual obsession, morality and the seductive allure of beauty and danger. This Novel asks profound questions about morality, guilt and the allure of the forbidden, all while maintaining a quiet tension that builds throughout the story. The Characters are incredibly well-drawn, each with distinct personalities and complex inner lives that pull the reader into their moral struggles. Tartt's prose is elegant and immersive, filled with rich details that makes the book hard to put down. If you´re drawn to stories that explore the depths of the human psyche with sophistication and subtle menace, this is a novel that will captivate and haunt you in equal measure.

    Almond

“There is no such person who can't be saved. There are only people who give up on trying to save others.” Very unique book about a boy who never feels any Emotions and another boy who feels way too much. Throughout this novel I realized how much I feel every second of my life and what an impact those feelings have on my actions. It's kind of strange to read a book about a boy who doesn’t feel at all and it still being so relatable. This book is not only about feelings, but about friendship and companionship. It represents the complexity of life in such a thought-provoking way. A really moving novel.

    The Starless Sea

Some stories are written just for you. They suck you in, wrap themselves around you and your mind. Thats what this novel did to me. It sticks to me like honey, and I feel like a bee, needing more and more of it. This book followed me into my dreams and stayed present in my head at all times. I wanted to devour it and at the same time I never wanted to finish it, so I could stay within the story forever. “No story ever truly ends as long it is told.” And this one is going to live forever on in my head.

    The Night Circus

"The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.“ It’s enchanting, it’s romantic, it’s soul touching! This Book is so well written that the Book itself, feels magical. The setting, the story, the writing style, everything fitted so perfectly. If I had one free wish, it would be to visit the night circus just for one night. I loved the magical atmosphere that was created and I wish I could read this Story again for the first time.

    The Goldfinch

"I´d be perfectly happy if I could sit looking at the same dozen paintings for the rest of my life. I can´t think of a better way to go insane" I don´t even know where to start with the Goldfinch. This Novel takes you on a journey through grief, self-destruction, and the unrelenting pull of art, beauty and love. Donna Tartt is a genius of words crafting characters so nuanced and real that it feels like you´re the one experiencing all their emotions. You come to know all the characters so intimately, getting pulled into this world, that feels as messy and complex as real life. I got so absorbed in it, it was hard to put the book down, yet at the same time I never wanted it to end. This Novel was always on my mind and had such an impact on me and although it´s lengthy, every page is worth it.

    Orbiting Jupiter

”I had his back and he had mine that’s what greater love is” This book left such an impact on me. Sometimes out of nowhere I just think "Argh, orbiting Jupiter". The story of Jack and Joseph is so sad and devastating yet so inspiring and it tells a lot about friendship and finding family. Though the book is so short (just about 200 pages) it´s of high quality and captivates the reader. I also seldom cry reading a book, it’s often just tears forming in my eyes, but this book really did it for me.

    The Shards

This is a pseudo- autobiographical novel that explores themes of sex, drugs, a serial killer, and 80s music. Despite its length of about 750 pages, you can finish it in just two days. The story is packed with action, and as you follow the fictional Brett, you become increasingly paranoid and anxious, ultimately feeling as though you can't trust anyone. You witness his gradual descent into madness. The atmosphere of the book is spot on, and what I loved most were the numerous references to truly amazing songs from that era.

The Three-Body Problem / The Remembrance of Earth's Past 1

I never thought I’d get hooked on sci-fi, but “The Three-Body Problem” completely blew me away. This novel captivated me, not only because of its gripping story and perfect blend of science, mystery and social criticism but also because of its brilliant world building! Cixin Liu created a universe that’s so detailed and complex, it felt like it actually exists. A perfect beginning for an amazing trilogy!
