Daughter of the Pirate King

I enjoyed reading this book a lot! It's perfect for summer and reading at the beach to embrace the whole pirate feeling. I loved that the language was pirate-like as one imagines it or knows it by every good pirate movie. Alosa also was a good character. She was sure of herself but not this annoying kind of rebellious and stubborn. She did what she wanted to do and didn't let anyone get in the way. I also liked that she used Riden to get information and enjoyment which might or might not have turned into real feelings. I would have liked it more if we would have seen more of her than just “wants to make her father proud” and “is a cool badass woman”. The characters weren't that deep but sometimes that is alright, too. Sometimes a very deep and traumatized character isn't necessary. All in all, I recommend this book to everyone who needs a fun read for the summer.

A wonderful plot and great characters, this duology will hook you!

This book was incredible! I loved that the fmc is courageous, confident and smart and I fell in love with her and her crew consistent of mostly female pirates. The story was really thrilling with many twists and turns and reading "Daughter of the Pirate King" was very fun. Therefore I highly recommend it!

This book has it all: Morally grey characters, murder, pirates, good worldbuilding, friendship and romance . Every twist was unexpected, the pacing was amazing and you can really feel the spark between Alosa and Riden. I can’t recommend Tricia Levensellers books enough, they’re always a treat!

Wer die Filmreihe Fluch der Karibik mag, ist mit diesem Abenteuerroman gut bedient. Alosa ist eine starke Protagonistin, die weiß was sie möchte und lieber Leute hinters Licht führt, als selber hinters Licht geführt zu werden. Ihrem Vater, dem Piratenkönig, ist sie treu ergeben, auch wenn sie lieber selber ihren eigenen Kopf durchsetzen möchte und prinzipiell schenkt sie nur ihrer treuen Besatzung, die ausschließlich aus Frauen besteht, ihr Vertrauen.  Als sie den Auftrag von ihrem Vater erhält, einen Teil einer antiken Karte zu stehlen, lässt die junge Kapitänin sich auf ein gefährliches Katz- und Mausspiel mit einer verfeindeten Piratencrew ein. Aber Alosa wäre nicht so berüchtigt, wenn sie dies nicht mit Leichtigkeit bewerkstelligen sollte. Nichtsdestotrotz hätte sie nie damit gerechnet, dass ausgerechnet der attraktive Vize Kapitän des Schiffes anfängt ihre Mauern zu Fall und ihre Entschlossenheit zum wanken zu bringen. Wird sie es am Ende also schaffen, oder wird sie ihrem Vater doch in den Rücken fallen und ihrem Herzen folgen? Daughter of the pirate King war Jack Sparror nur im weiblichen Format. Es war witzig, abenteuerlich und mit einer Brise Meer und Salz verbunden und wer sowieso Piratenstorys gerne liest ist hier am richtigen Fleck und auf dem richtigen Piratenschiff gelandet, um selber das Steuer in die Hand zu nehmen.
