More than a Prequel

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas is a collection of prequel novellas to the Throne of Glass series. Although it is set before the main story, I would personally recommend reading it later in the series, as some emotional moments and revelations have a stronger impact that way. Sarah J. Maas has an addictive, easy-to-read writing style that keeps the pages turning effortlessly. Beyond the action and adventure, this book explores themes of loyalty, freedom, fear of the unknown, love, betrayal, and the choices we make when certainty feels safer than possibility. The characters are flawed and human, capable of both admirable and frustrating decisions, which made me deeply invested in their journeys. Rather than presenting clear-cut heroes and villains, The Assassin’s Blade offers morally complex relationships that invite reflection. It asks thought-provoking questions about courage, control, and what it means to choose your own path, even when the future is uncertain. For me, this was much more than an entertaining fantasy read. It is an emotional coming-of-age story about identity, trust, and the difficult process of growing into the person you want to become.

Amazing prequel

This book certainly had me feel emotional. Sometimes I was annoyed by the main characters, but mostly, this book had my heart breaking multiple times. Maybe because it's easy to remember being a teenager again and feeling too much. It was actually easy to identify with the protagonist. I'm excited to read the main series.

I can't understand why I've waited so long!

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

I loved this book with my whole heart. Honestly, I have no idea why I waited so long to dive into this series, especially since this book was such a breathtaking experience. This book gave me that exact, rare feeling I am always looking for as a reader. It was so addictive that I simply couldn’t put it down. Even though it is structured as a collection of novellas, the flow was seamless and incredibly easy to follow. I now completely understand why so many fans recommend starting the series here it builds such a necessary emotional foundation. The prose is absolutely wonderful. There is a lyrical quality to the writing that made the world and the setting feel vivid and beautiful. But more than that, it was the emotional impact that caught me off guard. This book made me cry! Celaena Sardothien is a phenomenal protagonist strong, complex, and deeply human. Watching her journey through these parts made me feel so connected to her. The character development is top tier, and I am already so invested in her story. I am beyond excited to continue with the rest of the series. If the first book is already this powerful, I can’t imagine what’s next!

This book broke my heart. However, it was wonderful to see where Celeana came from, and how she came to be the woman in the following books. I loved getting to know where all the characters were introduced. It's a very exciting book to read, and an even more exciting series.
