perfect. didnt expect any less of the author, only the second book i read of her (the first one being part one of this storyline), but she so quickly became one of my favourite authors. love literally everything about this story, most tho: the characters.

diese buchreihe hat mich seit beginn fest in ihrem bann. man bleibt bis zur letzten seite unter spannung und verfolgt auch hier die zeitlich parallelen perspektiven altgeliebter, aber auch neuer gesichter, die nochmal was ganz neues mitbringen. wen düstere und ernüchternd brutale geschichten über helden und übernatürliche kräfte interessieren, wird bei vicious und vengeful definitiv auf die eigenen kosten kommen! als jemand, die viele superheldenmedien konsumiert, haben mich die ideen im buch trotzdem noch überraschend und inspirieren können. das hardcover ist zusätzlich noch total schön designt und das papier qualitativ gut genug um mit meinem muji fineliner hineinzuschreiben. normalerweise schmeiße ich die umschläge bei gebundenen büchern immer weg, da viele designs nicht meinen geschmack treffen, aber das an dem hier kann ich mich nicht sattsehen! ich hoffe ihr werdet an der dynamik zwischen den charakteren (vor allem zw. victor und eli und victor und seine found family) ebenfalls so viel freude haben wie ich <3

I don't think I'll ever recover from this!

'Vicious' is one of my all time favorite books, but I was really afraid to start 'Vengeful' because of this but Oh Boy, this did not dissappoint. Set 5 years after the events of 'Vicious' this book follows old and new characters in a similiar time-jump-style as the first book. Again these books are very character-heavy, so if you prefer Plot-based books, this might not be the one for you but if it is and you also like superheroes and X-Men: These books are your perfect match! If you know me, you know how obsessed I am with Victor Vale and having his Asexuality confirmed on page was very important to me and other members of the community. I will admit I wasn't the biggest Fan of Marcella as I felt like she wasn't properly fleshed out and her as well as June held much more potential than they lived up to but this was all redeemed by the insane amount of Victor-Eli-Tension. So in conclusion if you, like me, loved 'Vicious' and are afraid of reading the sequel: Don't be but do have tissues ready because the world will feel unjust and painful after this!

Wonderfully insane, again

"Vengeful" is the second book in Schwab's Villains series, and continues the story of Eli and Victor we got to love and hate in "Vicious". Next to the two of them, Schwab also introduces a bunch of new characters that are as intriguing as wonderfully easy to hate as Eli and Victor are. As in the first book, we talk a lot about the definition of heroes and villains again, but this time with the added problem of "if there is someone worse, can we justify using the bad guy for our gain?" There's something very machiavellian about the characters in this book. We learn some more about the backstory of our main characters, which adds another interesting layer to Eli and his god complex specifically, and i loved everything about it. The ending is the only thing i didn't absolutely love, even though i understand why Schwab chose to end it this way. Once again, Vengeful proves how masterful of a writer Schwab is!
