Let the tale seduce you, just as I was seduced - Dark witchy folkore Horror
This is my favorite witchy book! It is so eerie, at times creepy, and of course deliciously dark. Abitha is such a force to be reckoned with and honestly who I might have been in a past live. I think about this book ever so often and the gorgeous, rich prose it beholds, I will 100% reread this many times. Recommend to People who too would dance and frolick naked in the woods, and maybe meet up with the devil and other whimsical dark spiritis. Huge fan of women turning back to their wild and adventorous selfs. Quite literally the song "Me and the Devil" Btw this has some GORGEOUS illustrations!! -

Richly illustrated prose, elements of folklore, fantasy and horror, as well as a compelling story that manages to weave a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere from start to finish. I know this usually sounds too good to be true, but "Slewfoot" absolutely delivers on all fronts. I loved everything about Abitha—her resilience, her independence, her resourcefulness in navigating a world fraught with danger and misunderstanding, her complex relationship with Slewfoot, and how she takes back what is rightfully hers. This book is for all of those who have a soft spot for the occult (or for those who just really love the movie "The Witch" by Robert Eggers). -

Horror at its finest
A dark and gruesome story where the real horror might not lay with the devil himself, but maybe somewhere else. Fantastic read for the darker seasons and for readers who are looking for something thrilling, but more subtle and refined. (This book made me really angry, but in a good way ;) ) -

Abitha is wed to Edward a (for puritan standarts) nice and openminded man. After a tragic accident she is left to care for their farm and debts alone, much to the growing dismay of the strictly religious town and Edward´s brother Wallace, who tries to reclaim the land in his families name. All the while strange things start to happen around the young woman´s home. But could it really be old Slewfoot roaming about? Abitha´s tale is one of outsiderhood and finding belonging in the strange and unusual. Beautifully written with one foot in historic fiction and the other in dark fantasy. Concluding in a twisted yet satisfying ending. Would highly recommend!
