    A true delight!

This Book is everything I had hoped for. It deals with themes of betrayal, loss, friendship and finding joy in books. A short and comfy book I think everyone will enjoy. After the main character gets broken up with by her long-term boyfriend, she moves in with her sort of estranged Uncle and his Books. Living above the Morasaki Bookshop is a dream for many, but not for Takako. Takako would rather stay in bed all day... that is until she rekindles her passion for Books.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

A Tale of Growth, Friendship, and Love for Books

The vibes and descriptions of this book are on point. So are the characters. The relationship between Takako and Satoru is hilarious and incredibly heart warming. I loved how the book began with Takako’s life being so scrambled and a mess and her falling into this sort of depressive episode and then there was Satoru who pulled her out and also gave her the love for books. It’s written so wonderfully it really reminded me of the fact no one has their life figured out and that’s alright. Takako didn’t at 25, just like Satoru who’s much older than her. Ups and downs are part of life and the people in your life are there to pull you up if you stumble. Just like Satoru did for Takako and the other way around. The only thing that was missing for me was a bit more romance. But that’s just me being a sucker for romance.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Days at the Morisaki Bookshop

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    A break between books

Satoshi Yagisawa tells of Takako, a young woman who suddenly encounters a deep emptiness. Gradually she finds her way back to life and discovers new vitality. His writing style is calm, patient, and unhurried, yet it carries a lot of power and depth. And I don’t mean the calm, patient, and unhurried part in a negative way at all. It’s simply something to feel-good about and also to reflect on. I’m not sure how else to describe it. I could add that it’s poetic and fluid. I simply love books in which books, bookstores, libraries, and reading play a central role. This always creates an instant sense of a haven of well-being for me. And the cover of the book is an invitation for all book lovers. When I see the book, I immediately feel comfortable and reassured, as if my worries have disappeared. This quiet story is ideal when you need a small break from a busy everyday life. It’s also well suited to help someone out of a reading slump (speaking from experience). I simply love it and can truly recommend everyone to read it.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    A must-read for cozy days!

A complete fresh start is often difficult to navigate, but it is especially important to find a place of comfort during these times. And that is exactly what the Morisaki Bookshop is. Hidden behind all the old books in this small neighbourhood is a bunch of love, hope and self-discovery. This book feels like a warm blanket that you can snuggle up in.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Finding Peace Between Books

One of those rare books that captures the quiet beauty of life’s small moments, and it stays long after you turn the last page. The novel gently wraps you in its atmosphere, inviting you to lose yourself in the cozy world of Morisaki’s secondhand bookstore. The protagonist, who is grappling with her own emotional turmoil, finds solace not only in the books that line the shelves but in the profound connections that slowly unfold between her and the people around her. The bookshop itself becomes a character in its own right—its shelves holding more than just stories, but the weight of memories, dreams, and unspoken truths. What stands out most is how the book beautifully explores the theme of healing—both through literature and through human connection. It’s not just about books, but about how they shape our lives and provide us with the tools to understand ourselves. The relationships in the story feel deeply authentic, filled with tender, quiet moments that remind you how small gestures and understanding can change the course of a life. This novel is a warm embrace for anyone who loves books, but also for those who are looking for a story that’s quietly transformative. It’s a love letter to bookstores, to the pages that stay with us, and to the idea that sometimes, the most unexpected places are where we find the most healing.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

New comfort book about new beginnings and family connections.

Cozy and inspiring book about the healing power of books and the comfort you can find in reading and spending some time away from your real life. Takako does not only find her love for reading and bookstores while helping out at the Morisaki Bookshop, she also connects with her uncle for the first time and finds the strength to start anew. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would and will definitely read more books like this!

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

Short, sweet and comfy but laced with emotions

To say this book surprised me would be a heavy understatement. You might not think a book so short and seemingly cozy could make you feel so many emotions. But it did. A wonderful tale of a young girl lost in life, finding not only comfort but contentment in the pages of old books as she crawls her way back to happiness and learns the stories of her family. I cannot possibly tell you if I like this book so much beacuse of the amount of books mentioned in it or if it is the way it managed to echo deep within me. You don't know what anyone has gone through and sometimes you might not understand what you're going through either. Maybe sometimes all you need to do is read a book and dive into a fictional life of a stranger to find yourself again between the lines.
