Shatter Me: The New Republic - WATCH ME. Special Edition A Shatter Me Novel

It felt so good to return to this world and meet the characters again. The 10-year time jump sounds intimidating at first, but it's surprisingly easy to get back into this world, and I really missed all the characters. At the same time, I'm so happy to meet new ones, and the new storyline is so, so good. Rosabelle and James totally have my heart, and I’m so excited to see how their story continues. I loved every page of it, and I'm more than ready for part two; I need it right now!

Ahhhh, I'm so in love! It seems like Tahereh Mafi can't write a bad book, haha. A couple of years ago, I absolutely devoured the Shatter Me series (and a few of her other books, definitely check them out, too!) and was thrilled when I heard about the new book in the series. I finished it in one sitting and loved every second of it. James and Rosabelle stole my heart (James is incredibly funny, the things he says and thinks sometimes, oh my), and I desperately need the next book! Even though the plot picks up ten years after the original series, it was really easy to get back into this world. And after I finished reading it, I felt a big hole in my life, so I did the only thing possible to fill it: I started rereading the original series cause otherwise i would feel really empty.

To say this book had me in a chokehold the entire time I was reading it is an understatement. I read the shatter me books a couple of years back and fell in love with the world and the characters. I was so excited when the next book was announced and had very high hopes. It did NOT disappoint. I was immediately hooked and sucked back into the world. The writing was as always great. The world was expanded in a way that made the time jump of 10 years easy to follow. But what I really want to praise the author for is the banter between the characters. You just can’t do anything but fall in love with them. The new characters had a thrilling story und where build really well. This book brought all the emotions out of me. I laughed, I cried and I was angry. Can’t wait for the next book.

This book was everything I could've asked for in a shatter me sequel. James as an adult is hilarious, the FMC is likeable and a badass with serious metal problems and the story had an amazing start! Seeing all the other characters again as adults made my heart ache, Aaron Warner as a devoted husband is everything I've ever wanted in Life. I especially enjoyed the little recaps here and there, shortly explaining who is who. Amazing for everyone who's read the shatter me books ages ago (like me). I can't wait for the next ones.

Ich habe mich sehr auf diese neue Reihe gefreut und kann sagen, dass sie mich nicht enttäuscht hat. Der 10 Jahre Zeitsprung hat etwas einschüchternd auf mich gewirkt, aber noch so mehr hat es mich gefreut, dass James (und auch Rosabelle) wunderbar als neue Protagonisten in die Welt eingeführt worden sind. Besonders James fand ich super, er hat eine perfekte Mischung zwischen Kenji und Aaron in seiner Persönlichkeit und dadurch war seine Perspektive immer voller Humor und Action. Rosabelle als neue Protagonistin hat viele neue Fragen aufgeworfen und einen intimen Einblick in das ‘böse’ Regime gegeben, aber so ganz bin ich noch nicht zu ihr warm geworden. Dennoch freue ich mich darauf, die beiden in zukünftigen Büchern weiter zu verfolgen und weiterhin viele geliebte Charaktere aus der ‘Shatter Me’-Reihe wiederzusehen. Ich bin der Meinung, dass man dieses Buch lesen kann, ohne die ‘Shatter Me’-Reihe gelesen zu haben, aber spätestens nach diesem Band wird man neugierig genug sein, um dies zu ändern.
