The Gate of the Feral Gods Dungeon Crawler Carl 4

Meine Güte, ich hatte schon vor einer langen Zeit von DCC gelesen. Ich war da gerade vertieft mit He who fights with monsters und Brandon Sanderson. Nun habe ich endlich damit angefangen und bereue es, nicht früher angefangen zu haben. Es ist so absurd und so genial geschrieben. Kann es nur wärmstens empfehlen!

I really loved The Gate of the Feral Gods. The DCC series now has my heart and I am embracing the madness or whatever this is. For me, this floor worked much better than the Iron Tangle. The train floor had cool ideas, but sometimes it was hard to follow because the map was so messy. Now, the structure felt clearer, but still keeping all the chaos, and the “what the hell is happening?” vibe. And the WTF moments just do not stop, don’t worry. While reading, I was either laughing, staring at the page in disbelief, or shaking my head because Carl somehow survived again. The humor is still completely insane and dark. This book mixes horror, reality TV, emotional damage, weird monsters, foot fetish, and cringy jokes, and somehow I LOVE IT! What I also really enjoy now is that the story outside the dungeon is starting to gain momentum and to develop. What started as a crazy murder game now feels much bigger and I am looking forward to see what will happen with that storyline. I also really liked that Carl and Donut grew closer in this book. Under all the violence and chaos, the relationship between them is still the heart of the series. Donut is still an iconic diva, and Carl is still the most tired man alive and loves to play with explosives. And then there is the ending. That ending made me crazy. I could not really sleep or work after finishing it because I needed to know what happens next. Luckily, I already had book five ready next to me. After book one, this is definitely my favorite book in the series so far. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and remember crawlers: read, read, read!!

Also wer bis hierher gekommen ist, weiss wer Carl, Donut und Katja sind. Ein wilder Ritt ist dieses Buch auf jeden Fall! Wie es immer mehr auf die Meta Ebene geht, hat mir gefallen, und es gab echt wieder ein paar Ikonische Szenen. Aber auch emotionale Momente kommen nicht zu kurz. Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Band.

And he did it again! Matt Dinimans fourth entry in this series doesn’t disappoint! A mix of action filled adventure, insane plot twists (that got more and more especially towards the end) and just straight up excellent storytelling. I’m just falling in love with this series more and more by every read page!
