Ein Buch das ich wünschte nochmal zum ersten mal lesen zu können
"Humanity takes itself too seriously. It is the world´s original sin." Ein Klassiker, der sagt, dass altern nicht so schlimm ist als das, was in einem passiert, wenn man versucht perfekt zu sein. Eine Geschichte wie das Herz dunkel wird und das Böse in sich trägt, wenn man bessesen von seiner Schönheit wird. Das Buch ist in unserer Zeit besonders wichtig, wo social media uns sagt dass wir diese Produkte und diese Routinen benutzen sollen, um so schön wie möglich zu werden. Wo die Nachricht von social media an die Gesellschaft ist, dass man weniger Wert ist, wenn man nicht schön genug ist. Ein Horror der besessenheit von der perfekten Schönheit. -

Normally, I couldn't care less about classics, but Oscar Wilde has a way of captivating me. The deep emotional level I was able to achieve with his characters fascinated me. Perhaps this was the perfect introduction to the vast world of classic literature? -

Meine Nummer 1 Empfehlung
"The Picture of Dorian Grey" hat sich nun schon mehrfach einen besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen erkämpft. Oscar Wilde gibt mit seinen moralisch fragwürdigen Charakteren und legendären Zitaten nicht nur Stoff zum nachdenken, sondern auch eine packende, düstere Geschichte mit Dark Academia-Vibes. Ein Buch über Oberflächlichkeit, Materialismus, Klassengesellschaft, geheime Verlangen und den Wunsch für immer jung zu bleiben. Ein Buch das nahezu verboten worden ist und Teil des Anklageprozesses gegen den Autor selbst war. “Some things are more precious because they don't last long.”
One of the first classics I have read was "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and it made me fall in love with the genre. Oscar Wilde had such a captivating writing style and a special way of describing the situations the characters were put in. With the dark atmosphere and the intriguing themes in the book, it is definitely worth reading! -

A masterpiece.
The Picture of Dorian Gray is my favorite classical book. Oscar Wilde wrote his characters with such care, staying true to their identities. I think that we all, to some degree, are scared to age and die. In this book, Dorian makes the decision to sell his soul to transfer his aging process to a portrait of himself. But even if he stays young and beautiful, one's sins cannot be erased...
