The Twisted Ones

As every other book written by T. Kingfisher 'the twisted ones' enthralled me completely. This book is haunting, weird and pretty funny too. The first half was a very slow menacing kind of horror and the latter part was spot on and reminded me a lot of 'fairy tale' by Stephen King (which is one of my fave books ever, so that was a lot of fun). I liked this book a teeny weeny bit less than 'the hollow places', 'a house with good bones' and 'nettle and bone', but it's still a very good book!

T. Kingfisher is a genius when it comes to combining horror with a hauntingly weird story and humour! Every book I've read so far definitely made me a huge fan and I'm really looking forward to reading more!

This book makes you not only uncomfortable towards enstranged grandparents but also let's you see forests and strange stones with totally disserent eyes. Mouse is such a relatable character and Bongo is a very good boy. I liked the lack of sexual motivated helpfulness of Tomas and Foxy is just such an icon.

Nachdem ich ein paar Kingfisher Werke mit klassischem Gothic-Vibe gelesen habe, war der Folklore-Horror von "The twisted ones" eine schöne Abwechslung. Für mich hatte das Buch leichte Blair Witch vibes und dabei erstaunlich viel Humor. Es hat mein Leben nicht verändert aber gut unterhalten - perfekt für den aktuellen Spooktober!

It comes to no surprise that I enjoyed this one! The humor was amazing once again, the characters reasonable and hilariously unrealistic at the same time, not to mention the dog! There's something about Kingfisher being able to give animals character, they're usually insanely relatable and this one was too! The horror was great, loved the guessing and wondering, the atmosphere and imagery had been deliciously gruesome, the twist however... I don't know. It's great and different, but in the end didn't feel that rewarding. I feel like I'm still missing answers that could have been provided. Either way a worthwhile read!
