If you haven't heard of Andy Weir then where have you been in the last 10 years? Surely not on a doomed interstellar mission to save all of humanity. Dr. Ryland Grace already drew the short stick on that one, poor guy. By the way, that's also where this whole rollercoaster of a story begins, with an amnesic Ryland Grace basking in that fresh post-coma glow with no one as company except for a robotic arm that for some reason just wants to put him right back to sleep (the rest of the crew is dead if you haven’t figured) As if that's not bad enough, our highly confused protagonist slowly but surely starts to remember the purpose of his mission: He's on his way to Tau Ceti to find a way to stop the sun from dying. Why is the sun dying, you may ask? Well, the answer is space algae. Yes, space algae, which of course needs a fancy new name, so it's christened Astrophage. If you want to simultaneously laugh and cry, then by all means, please join Dr. Ryland Grace on the most important space mission of all time. Honestly, there's literally no reason not to read this book. But if you're still hesitating just know this, besides trying to defeat the big bad Astrophage, Ryland also makes friends with an alien named Rocky, and if that's not a selling point, then I don't know what is.

I'm not even a Sci-Fi Reader but Rocky made me one!

I'm not going to lie the first 50 pages I was pretty sceptical of why this was so hyped. But when it started flowing, the more time we spent with Grace and then, when we finally met Rocky, I 100% knew what all the noise had been about. Because while, yes, this is a Sci-Fi book, I felt like in the first place, this was a story about an unlikely friendship that conquered all the odds. I was enarmoured by the humor and the wit of Weirs writing, but most of all I was enarmoured with Rocky. That little rock/spider shaped alien will definetly hold a very special place in my heart. Even if you're not the biggest fan of Sci-Fi, you will absolutely love this book, I'm sure of it.
