Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation 1: Mo Dao Zu Shi (Novel)

This series is really fun and I can totally see why it's so beloved within the Danmei community. The characters are super fun and multi-layered, the mystery is gripping and the twists and turns this story takes are just amazing. The romance may be a slow-burn but by god is it worth it in the end, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are just wonderful with each other. I cannot recommend this series enough to just about anyone, because this series is a great introduction to the genre with a lot more to show for it than just the romance between the protagonists.

In this fantasy series with a historical Chinese setting and magical cultivation there are lots of treasures to find... but not only treasures. Follow the freshly reincarnated Wei Wuxian on his hunt to find all the missing body parts of a misterious corpse. On his journey to solve this mistery he meets old friends, old rivals as well as new friends and allies. All this while trying to hide his true identity. This is the first book in a series of 5 and I can just highly reccomend it! This series has it all... friendship, love, revenge, as well as magic and heartbreak. These books and their characters will always have a special place in my heart.

idiots in love - sooo much pining - "the evil one" is actually a cinnamon roll - just let them be gay - trauma - action - crack I really really love these books, Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is just a freaking genius!!! You´re really missing out if you don´t read this!!! 100/10, pure love

I do NOT know what's in these books for me to be as obsessed with them as I am. The writing is bad, people. BAD!!!! I wanted to grab Wei Wuxian by the shoulders, shake him and yell "HOW ARE YOU THIS PRETTY BUT THIS STUPID????????" the whole time, especially since the first book is literally just him and Lan Wangji being a gay mess (Seriously: there is no other plot. I loved every second). I read all five books in about a week, genuinely cannot stop thinking about them and am currently worrying that I'm going insane. This is very quickly turning into a level of obsession comparable to the unhealthy attachment I had to Supernatural when I was 14. Read this at your own risk, friends. (And maybe send some help my way...)

I´ve read the books after absolutely devouring the C-Drama and they are so so so much better. From character development to amazing world building, MDZS has it all. Until the last chapter you know who the real bad guy truly is and you will be left crying for characters you didn´t even know you cared about all that much. Death scenes are so well written and absolutely heartwrenching to read that you simply have to cry your heart out. And don´t get me started on the main lovestory. Yearning, waiting for years for your true love to reappear only for him to think you hate him. Slow burn at it´s finest mixed with a "he falls first and falls harder"-trope and a good amount of spice. MXTX has truly done an amazing job with this series and it´s worth every second of it´s continuing hype.
