Nach einer etwas längeren Pause habe ich das Buch nun auch endlich beendet. Leider fand ich das Buch sehr verwirrend. Viele Begriffe hätten im Text erklärt werden müssen, es ist einfach nur nervig ständig im Glossar nachzusehen und sich gegebenenfalls noch zu spoilern. Zur Geschichte selbst: Die ersten 150 Seiten waren eher uninteressant, haben mich sehr verwirrt und einfach nicht gepackt. Zusätzlich sind die Kapitel aus den verschiedenen Perspektiven manchmal echt nicht zu verstehen. "The other" hat mich total aus dem Konzept gebracht, weshalb ich das Buch auch erst mal längere Zeit hatte liegen lassen. Als die Geschichte dann endlich richtig los ging war doch sehr enttäuscht von manchen Charakteren, v a von Raeve... Sie entwickelt sich nicht weiter und macht immer die selben dummen Sachen. Kann dagegen fand ich mega. Fazit also: sehr viel Potential, Umsetzung eher so lala und das Wnde war doch sehr enttäuschend.

Ich habe das Buch gerade beendet und bin völlig fertig (im positiven Sinne). Die Welt, die Sarah Parker hier geschaffen hat ist so komplex und fantastisch, ich bin völlig begeistert. Die Geschichte wird erst nach und nach immer klarer, man fragt sich anfangs öfter, was da eigentlich abgeht und auch sprachlich ist das ganze so schön geschrieben, dass ich dieses Buch bereits jetzt als eines meiner Jahreshighlights sehe. Wer wirklich auf high Fantasy steht, mit vielschichtigen Figuren, einer tollen Welt und einer Geschichte, die nicht von Anfang an völlig offensichtlich ist, ist mit diesem Buch gut beraten. Für mich persönlich endlich wieder ein absolutes Highlight nach ToG und ACOTAR!

“WHEN THE MOON HATCHED” was so different than I expected and very unique (Dragons turning into moons when they die?? Hell, yes! Count me in!). It’s perfect for fans of dragons and court politics/royal family drama. The story took so many unexpected turns and I’m not sure how the author managed it, but it took no time at all to build emotional connections with the characters, even with those that are only mentioned by name, don’t have much dialogue or page time. It’s a Romantasy book first and foremost, but a very low-spice Romantasy, so don’t be discouraged to pick it up if the genre usually isn’t your cup of tea. The politics and action scenes were much more memorable and focused on, as well as the very unique worldbuilding and storytelling structure of mixing the main POVs with some flashbacks and snippets of one character’s past diary entries. At the same time, if you’re new to high fantasy IGNORE that huge glossary. I’m so happy I listened to a reviewer on Instagram who said to just start reading without looking at it. All you need to know, you’ll get through the actual text. “WHEN THE MOON HATCHED” positively surprised me and I’ll definitely pick up the second book as soon as it comes out!

A bit of a complicated story about different kingdoms and an interesting magic system as well as different breeds of dragons. It leaves you with a few questions but it is definitely catching! Eagerly waiting for the sequel!
