This book has the perfect balance of love, comedy and a little bit of politics. The characters are deep enough to make them believable and yet not too complex to redirect the focus away from the main loveplot. The same applies to the portrayal of politics. It’s a light read that will pull you out of a reading slump. And honestly its simply adorable and yet a little spicy. Finally I just have to say there's more than one moment in which you’re wishing it would be reality, especially if you’re reading it in 2026.

As a big fan of this author, this was the first book I read by her. It immediately captivated me. What I liked most about the plot was that we got to watch two very different people overcome their difficulties in order to come to terms with themselves. It wasn't just the clichéd way of writing about gay people; they were both so different and yet so similar.

Red White and Royal Blue caught me off guard. I went into this book expecting a silly, little lovestory between the first son of the president of the United States and a prince of England, a book that doesn't leave a lasting impression, something you read to clear your head. But it turned into one of my favourite books of all time. The writing is beautiful, the characters are so relatable, the love story is developed so realistically, even though the circumstances seem so ridiculous. This book made me laugh, it made me cry in and it made me realize that it is okay to question your sexuality in your mid-twenties.

By now this book’s Amazon adaptation is Emmy nominated! And--even though the movie is a little different from the novel--I couldn’t be prouder. I first read “RW&RB” in 2020 and it helped me a lot during my self-finding journey. Coming out is scary enough when your parents are just regular people, but when they’re president of the US and monarchs of England, it obviously makes things a bit more complicated. It’s impossible not to cheer for Alex and Henry from the sidelines while reading and hoping they’ll make history with their relationship. CMQ gained the title of my favorite rom-com writer for a reason!
