Es ist unglaublich gut geschrieben. Auch als nicht Muttersprachler hat man es gut verstanden. Aber wenn man sich nicht besonders gut mit Politik auskennt, so wie ich, kann es an manchen Stellen etwas schwer zu verstehen sein. Je mehr man aber liest, desto mehr versteht man im Endeffekt auch. Quick and easy read. It took me 13 hours to finish it and I wish I could read it for the first time again. This book helped me come back to reading and has become one of my favourites. Back in 2020 it was the perfect escape during confinement, making you believe that a better world is possible. Even after multiple rereads, Alex and Henry's relationship never fails to warm my heart. I find myself gravitating back to their emails everytime I feel sad. The cast of secondary characters is such a riot, and while some issue are only superficially explored like Bea's addiction or June's somewhat complicated relationship with her mother, and their disagreements around her career, the group surrounding our protagonists, still feels like an organic and realistic band of 20-somethings, no matter how far removed they are from our actual day to day life. And as a bonus point, Casey Mcquinston offers us a beautiful trip down queer history, and inspires their queer audience to go make some. Alex's realisation of his sexuality is painfully relatable at times, hilarious but also deeply emotional, while Henry's relationship with his sexuality and his family life resonated with me in a way that made me wanna say "I've been gay as a maypole since the day I came out of mum" to family members. All in all, a joy to read. Mcquinston somehow created characters that you could never imagine relating to, and made them people you could imagine being friends with. ...weiterlesen
